In this thread you can talk about anything related to stop-motion animation; from Gumby, to Rudolph, to Jack Skellington.

I adore this kind of animation, and with the exception of Tim Burton working in this field, it seems like it is dying out. Thank God Tim Burton uses this medium. His is the best, i think.

I've always had a DEEP amount of respect for anyone who has the patience to do this type of animation. I know I don't have the patience to sit there and take literally millions of pictures just to make an hour and a half movie.
Movies in this category I'm a huge fan of:
The Nightmare Before Christmas Chicken Run James and the Giant Peach

Chicken Run's awesome. You should check it out sometime.
I dunno. Corpse Bride seemed really half-assed to me. =/ At least the music did. I'm a huge Danny Elfman fan, but the music in Corpse Bride seemed WAY below his usual quality. It was just felt too.......boring? I'm not sure if that's the word for it, but I remember thinking "This song kinda sucks" through most of the show-stopping numbers. The story was really good. I liked that. But the music just sort of made it "blah" to me.

Yes, i'd like to see Chicken Run. So you didn't like the music that much in Corpse Bride? I loved the instrumental mucic; the soft harpsichord (i looove harpsichords), mellow organs (i'm extremely picky with organs), and Victor's piano bit was utterly beautiful to me. (I always tend to take background music throughout an animated movie into more consideration than the actual songs that characters sing, i guess. ) In my opinion, the music gave the movie a gloomy, desperate atmosphere, but not too forlorn in which it would be depressing. But that's just what i think. =3

Well, the background music was really good.(At any rate it didn't make me go "OMG, make it stop.") But usually Danny Elfman is a genius all around, not just with the background music. All of the music in Nightmare Before Christmas was moving, touching, the lyrics were beautiful and flowed with the melodies. And Danny singing for Jack is just enough to make your soul melt. TwT
But I didn't get ANY of that with the songs in Corpse Bride. The lyrics seemed "scripted" almost, and the melodies for each song seemed really "meh".

Yes, your soul does indeed melt when Jack sings; what fantastic talent Danny has. Nightmare is indeed a classic and will always be better than Corpse Bride, but i still am fond of that one, too. I like the background music better than the singing. In Nightmare, i like it all.

All I know is that it can take a helluva lot of time, and that it's really hard, but cool!

Ditto on that, lil' mug! I would never have enough energy to do it. Tim Burton and all the artists that work with him are pure geniuses.

It's one of my favorite movies, and soundtracks! It's quite hard for me to choose a favorite song from Nightmare, but i'd have to say it's Sally's Song. =)

Vincent: Boy in the background, is stop motion, just like Corpse Bride, which I enjoyed because of the contrast of both worlds. XD
Boy do those movies rock!! (well, Vincent is a short film...) Oh! Wallace and Gromit are stop motion too, correct?
